Smoke control and ventilation engineer jobs

Smoke control sits between fire and M&E, and there are very few people who know it well. We train ventilation and fire alarm engineers into it, and we hire the experienced ones whenever we find them.

The work at AMPM

Service and install of AOV systems, smoke shafts, mechanical extract and pressurisation across residential blocks and commercial buildings; the compliance pressure post-Building Safety Act means this work is growing.

Commissioning with cause-and-effect to the fire alarm; inspection and reporting to the Responsible Person in plain English.

Kit, systems, standards

  • AOV controls and actuators, smoke shafts, SDI 19 / IFC certified systems
  • BS 7346-8, BS 9991, BS 9999
  • Interfaces to fire detection (BS 7273)

Tickets we look for

  • SDI 19 / IFC or manufacturer training
  • M&E ventilation engineers retrainable; fire alarm engineers with interface experience welcome

Pay

Scarce skills, paid for. Bands on each role and in the guide.

Where you join the ladder

Apprentice → Mentor → Practitioner → Master. Experienced smoke control engineers join as Masters. The Academy certifies where you already sit; nobody restarts at the bottom.

And the bit no competitor can say: the AMPM Group is employee-owned. Stay, and you own part of it. How ownership works →
